I was just wondering because I am on both klonopin and hydrocodone.
Is it safe to take clonazepam together in combination with hydrocodone?

I took both at the same time because of a visit to my therapist at the Va Hospital,which was going to take roughly an hour an a half.I did not want to experience my back pain from interrupting my session nor did I want to feel stressed also.I took them both on an empty stomach because at the time,i was experiencing too much pain to eat.At the session,i felt nausea and asked to go to the bathroom and I passed out cold,chin first to the floor.I ended up in the ER with a lot of blood all over me,6 stitches to my chin and a fractured jaw.The doctor took me off the clonazepam because she said it was not a good combination with the pain meds.Never had a problem taking them in a spaced out method but certainly together I did.

Yes I know for a fact it's safe too because my Dr prescribed both as well :)

I've been on both of these drugs in the past and so well associated with the hydrocodone thing. Hydrocodone being one of the best, have taken it off and on for years due to two reconstructive knee surgeries, slipped disc in my back and several other surgeries. I am now on Klonopin again for the 3 rd time in my life and am now taking this med with Celexa 40 mg a day, I however have been battling it out a bit with over the counter meds containing the ingredient diaphenedrine for sleep when needed, but you should be ok, I didn't have any bad effects from either

O yeah diyphenedrine works very well for sleep as well as vitamin worlds melatonin sleep aid.Yea need to get back on some of my anti-depressents as well.I used to take lexapro and abilify but stoped taking them because i started smoking pot again.

Hey arcan'16, good to hear from you... I have found that Diaphenedrine works well as a calming effect, especially if you have a high tolerance... Have you been keeping tabs on the news though with the Arests of many doctor's, medical staff who were running what they called pill mills/oxycontin war', in Florida, my place of birth and home growing up... It is this that puts many a squeeze on patients out there that are somewhat responsible and do their best to take their medicationa as prescribed... I agree with much of what you say and feel your pain... take care... Blaze22

just wanted to add that I am on Norcos, tramadol for pain and Klonopin, ativan and xanax for anxiety (not all at once!!) but i'm very careful, i usually space them apart.

How long do you space them out in between?I am supposed to be taking anti-deppressents but don't anymore because i have become obese and half the anti-deppresents out there have a side effect marked (possible weight gain)right on the side of it.I don't even know what to do anymore because if i gain any more weight.I will be putting myself at risk for heart attack because i already suffer from a seizure disorder as well.Man i am fcking screwed.To hell with this bullshit.Try to help your self and people still don't give a damn.Not you cathleen186 it's the stupid united states and their stupid regulations that gets on my nerves.O and thanks for the advice!!

I understand your anger!! No worries here. When I say space them out I mean taking the pain pill (which usually lasts 4 hrs) then 2 hours into that, take my clonopin and so on and so forth. Hope that helps, your friend, cathleen

Hi there arc. You probably know what my answer will be! Just be careful with the CNS effects of both meds. I read your last question and wasn't sure how to respond to it. It sounds like you've had some bad experiences with the "system" and are very frustrated. There was a time when depression wasn't considered an illness and lobotomies were one way of dealing with some psychiatric disorders. We've come a long way in this field but you're right, there's still prejudices that we have to face as a nation and confront them head on. Be safe with the meds and keep up the great work.

The united states has way 2 much greed and i am at a breaking point.I don't know what caused some of my other close friends on here to leave the US but i know that alot of people don't like americans health care in this country.Doctors act like they are federal judges now.Telling you what you can and can't take besides the fact.If you think you really need it or not. Needing to have a huge diagnosis just to slide by 2 actually be apart of obama care.O and to let anybody know who is in pain and wants narcotics.Tell those doctors your dying because that's the only way they will ever give them to you.
How is anybody in the Big pharmacutical companys ever thought of doing a double-blinded study on the life to death ratios of a person who just takes one drug compared to those who have taken 2 or more drugs?WW3 here we come.

Sounds like you had some rotten experiences arc. Can't say I blame you for feeling this way. The problem with the healthcare system reaches far back, long before this administration took office. It does come down to greed among big pharma and doctors. The high cost of malpractice insurance, high tuition for med school, most doc's start out in debt by $250,000. If things are going to change, we need to start with lowering the cost of education and getting the lobbyists out of washington. It's called bribery when big pharma, ama, insurance companies, donate millions to our representatives to keep the status quo. Don't give up though, look at me, I have no insurance, zero income, still waiting for disability and medicaid to make a decision and my surgeon still sees me and controls my pain. It all comes down to the individual doctor. Try to find an experienced one who's been around for a long time. Chances are they have enough money and can afford to take on a few cases pro bono. Don't give up hope!

Thank's christine.I know that I rambling on about the world and that it is not going to get me anywhere.If only i had a freakin magic wand you know.XD anyway the whole phychiatrist thing isn't working out very well.I used to go to one but she ended up having way to many patients and at times.She would even forget what she had prescribed to me not to mention that the time she sees me gets cut down from 30 minutes to 15 minutes after the first session.They also don't believe you if you tell them you are having mood swings or if you really are having racing thoughts.They seem to point mine out towards my self and they keep fcking calling it a chemical imbalance because the whole reason i went to mental health was to get off pot and when my family started bitching about the meds i took from the shrink.I said SCREW it.I'm gonna start smoking pot again.I am very rebellious and very paranoid.It's just hard to convince my councilar that i really have these thoughts.

and so since like september of last year.I have been smoking pot again.I mean wouldn't you get mad if you were trying to help your self get clean but then your parents seem to think that your still crazy even when you get off of pot??I know it's kind of a weird question but i take these anit-deppresents and anit-anxiety medications and my parents are still like.DON'T GET ADDICTED TO THEM PILLS or DON'T TAKE TO MANY OF THEM PILLS.I mean for christ sakes if they keep telling me that and i will never get better UGHH!!! I have never once abused xanax or hydrocodone or klonopin for the record.
They don't even make you high and see.When they say things to me like that.It tends to just make me more implusive and sometimes I feel as though i just want to hit my parents in the face sometimes but i don't.So you see they don't care if i am doing well or not!!! They just seem to think all of my problems are in my head.Which is NOT TRUE.I have mental problems that probably are NEVER going to go away and i really hate it.When people say TIME HEALS EVERYTHING.Well TIME DOES NOT HEAL EVERYTHING.I am still paranoid after 2 years of trial and error.I was clean for a whole year and that was the year i was on like 20 different anti-depressents.Now i am smoking again not happy.

No arc, NOT a weird question at all. And time doesn't heal all wounds either. It just makes things a little easier to deal with, but never truly goes away. I can sympathize with your position, very hard to convince people it ISN'T in your head, it ISN'T a certain way. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. You try and go along with the program, make everyone happy, but never seems quite good enough. Don't despair my friend, you're doing good!! I know you aren't happy in this situation right now, but don't give up on us either. Stick it out, dig your heels in and prove them wrong. Find someone who WILL give you the time, understanding, and who doesn't make you feel this way. Be strong!! Let your counselor know you aren't happy with the way therapy is going, you feel rushed, not heard or taken very seriously. You can go to someone else, can't you? There's bound to be someone who will be better suited to your needs.
Take a deep breath, let it out, and try to believe there ARE solutions. I don't have the answers. All I can do is offer an ear and a little encouragement. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers my young friend...

Someone was complaining about the doctors deciding what drugs you can take and what drugs you cannot take. I don't mean any personal offense, but who should decide? Who is more capable of making those decisions? Not only that, but as soon as someone has a side effect, some (not all) will want a pill to counter the side effect. In addition, if something happens, then someone sues the doctor for malpractice. I wouldn't want anyone but a doctor deciding what to take.

Ok thanks everyone!!! I also called a pharmacist 2 and the worst she said it can do is make you sleep.So i guess now that ain't all that bad considering I have insomnia.lol XD

Yes - in the proper dosages. At high doses, the combination could prove fatal (opiates and benzos both depress your central nervous system, most notably your breathing, and synergize together to create much stronger effects). But, as long as you keep your doses straight, and stay hydrated (both are hard on the liver) you'll be A-okay :)

I have been taking this combination for month's now and never once have I had any serious problems to this date.I do recommend spacing them out like some one else on here mentioned.So that you don't knock your self out all at one time.The only real weird side effect that seems to bother me a little bit is when i take a hydrocodone a couple hours later.I start to slurr in my speech a little bit don't know if that's the codeine or the tylenol but more than likely its probably just the codeine in it.Kinda makes me feel like I am on pot only it has more of a stimulating effect than pot has.
I already knew about the CNS warning because it comes on the written pamplet that is with the medication when you get it.I just wanted some friends advice on this and also to see if anyone else has had any weird side effects.Thanks yall for the advice!!Think I am gonna go take one now.lol!!

then you my dear Eclispe2 are a drug addict and people are dying from using oxy and taking benzos everyday... justify all you want but that is the raw truth.

Im not on any opiates anymore, nor klonopin and all my doctors know whats being prescribed to me and have the list of all my meds, side effects and allergies and so does the pharmacist..and i dont know why you pin pointed me when other people take a benzoid and an opiate too. So dont worry bout me.
